Young Historians Program US-UK: Causes of the American Revolution
The Young Historians Program US-UK was founded at MIT in 2001. It brings together schools in Great Britain and the United States for a year of shared inquiry into the history of British colonization in North America. At the end of the school year, students meet in person or on ZOOM to formally debate one another on a historical topic of direct relevance to their nations.
“International education should be intertwined throughout K-12 so that students engage in authentic learning experiences with their contemporaries around the world.”
“I was enormously impressed by the quality of the speeches. I also thought the topic a great concept, especially involving a team from England.”
““The Young Historians Program was an invaluable way to give our pupils a more global outlook. It motivated our students and fed their curiosity about other people’s cultures and history. Embarking on a cross-curriculum project with a school in New York was an ideal way to broaden our History curriculum.”
The Young Historians Program accepts schools with students between the ages of 10 and 14 in the United Kingdom, the United States and starting 2023, in the Caribbean, as well. Schools will be paired with a partner school for the duration of the program. All curriculum materials, instruction, debate preparation and culminating event management is provided by the Young Historians Program. We welcome British schools who are looking for a rigorous educational program to compliment their travel to the US through the Turing Fund.
